The Real Problem

Nobody talks about how in a way that doesn't make you feel like a self-serving, closed off asshat.

Sure, they talk about boundaries. About "knowing your worth." About healing your inner child so you can love yourself. About owning your authority.

Intellectually, all that makes sense โ€” and you've tried it. But there's some disconnect inside that just doesn't let the loop complete. For someone who's used to figuring things out, this one just drives you mad.

If you could find the off switch, you would have hit it 10 years ago. But every time you've tried to just ignore the feedback you're constantly observing โ€” even the things they don't say โ€” it gets uncomfortable fast.

You worry they'll think you're too good for them now. Or rude. Or uncaring. And you're none of those things. So despite your best intentions, you jump into action to prove it.

The reality is that all of those "traditional" strategies don't work for people who arguably learned to read the room before they could even talk.

And a million people telling you how good you are doesn't matter a lick if you can't believe it โ€” so acting like it will continue to feel like a performance until you do. Risky AF in the process.

The real answer is quieter and far more private than that.

It's learning to notice โ€” just for yourself โ€” when the shoulds come up in real time, so you can choose whether to pick them up or not.

The Weight of the Shoulds

When you're "out front" โ€” whether you chose to be or not โ€” the shoulds come at you incessantly.

From experts, friends, family members, clients, the peanut gallery, and literally everyone else โ€” especially if you have access to the internet.

Shout out to the one lady who was literally never a client of my wellness center, who asked if we were open on Sundays and โ€” when we said yes โ€” responded that our business would do better if we weren't, because, ya know, Jesus frowns on helping people on Sundays.

It's also the exact same process as finding the ones you're already carrying and choosing whether or not they're actually yours.

It's also the way that doesn't risk all the great you've already built in your life.

It's simply a practice of putting down all the "shoulds" that have landed on your shoulders โ€” so you can keep doing it all in a way that's more innate for you.

No matter who you're leading โ€” clients, teams, businesses, or communities. No matter whether your leadership role came because you chose it, because there was a need, or because you apparently got secretly nominated somewhere and people just started watching (holy uncomfortable, Batman).

The problem isn't any of the roles. It's the weight of the shoulds.

What It Actually Costs

Somehow being certain all the time โ€” even though you're figuring it all out yourself, on the fly, while juggling chainsaws, babies, and bowling pins.

Somehow always looking the part โ€” calm, cool, and collected โ€” even though you're a whole ass human with a life and off days and personal challenges and worries you're evidently supposed to just shut off in the blink of an eye.
Somehow having a ready answer, delivered perfectly, in real time, every time.
And the more growth and evolution you've personally experienced, the heavier the shoulds seem to get.
You want to be supported, but somehow always end up supporting.
You know what works best for you, but struggle to speak up or advocate for it โ€” not wanting to cause a rift, have to explain yourself, or second-guess yourself when "the expert" doubles down.
You often see what would make things easier or faster โ€” in any number of scenarios โ€” but get frustrated by interruptions or slow downs in the process.

When you're the kind of person who is always striving for better โ€” not just for yourself, but for the world and everyone around you โ€” constant personal growth and evolution are just natural byproducts.

It makes you exceptional in your field, respected, kind, and in constant forward motion.

But when the shoulds make you feel like you have to hide it, apologize for it, or defend it โ€” so no one gets their feathers ruffled because you're not what they expect you to be โ€” that's when it gets perpetually heavier. Because it's like living in two different worlds.

The pressure falls when you allow yourself to just โ€” be. As everything you already are.

The version of you that leads with empathy, humanness, innovation, humility, non-conformist decisions, and great care โ€” and also makes no apologies for your quirks, standards, or preferences โ€” is simply on the other side of the weight of the shoulds.

What Decided. Actually Does

Decided. is a less than 30 minute series of videos that shows you exactly how this pattern is running in your life โ€” and how to take it off autopilot.

So you reclaim the right to choose what's yours and what isn't โ€” without explaining a damn thing to anyone.

Decided. also effortlessly sidesteps the guilt, self-consciousness, and second-guessing that usually accompanies "caring less" โ€” because you'll realize you're not caring less at all. You're back in the driver's seat to choose what gets your energy.

When you learn how to put down the shoulds using your ability to notice things most others can't โ€” the flexibility, peace, space, and โ€” dare we say โ€” fun you've been working your ass off to reclaim will be right there waiting for you.

It will ripple through every role you hold and free you up to design not just your daily life, but your future โ€” from the truest version of yourself.

Which makes everything you're already working for lighter, easier, and faster.

The best part? You start feeling the difference in the control you have when you notice just one should and prove to yourself how quickly the pressure valve releases. And it only compounds from there.
